The cult-documentary Heavy Metal Parking Lot is being re-released on DVD around Halloween.
In 1986, two local filmmakers captured a raw slice of hilarious heavy-metal history in the parking lot of the Capital Centre before a Judas Priest concert. The documentary Heavy Metal Park Lot chronicled the tailgate-partying antics of ‘80s metalheads in all their faded-denim glory. Part time-capsule and part rock n’ roll kitsch, the video has garnered a cult reputation and was hailed by everyone from Roger Ebert to Foo Fighter Dave Grohl.
